2025-06-22 KYC at NOD

At Nepean Sailing Club’s NOD regatta held June 21-22, six teams from KYC competed at the event including;

Three 505 teams;

 - Luc Strickland (2nd)

 - Jeff & Danielle Boyd (5th)

 - Shona Moss-Lovashin (7th)

and all three of KYC’s J/80 teams;

 - Breakaway J Hugh McGugan, Melanie Ellison, Andy Roy & Josh Wilby (3rd)

 -  J Walking Andrew JW, Erica Vines, Robert Weguelin & Commodore Christina Dinsmore (4th) 

 -  JOYRIDE Matt and Madison Emmerson, Shirley Wildenbeest (8th)

After watching the Laser-28 fleet sail the first day of their 3-day North American Championships in 20+ knots from the northwest on the Friday before the weekend, Saturday’s sailing got off to a slow start with a light southwest breeze finally filling in by 1:00pm and building to 10-15 knots by day’s end. 

Saturday finished off with a tasty BBQ regatta dinner and plenty of free samples from the regatta rum and beer sponsors, and racing continued on Sunday with 8-12 knots from the northwest with a total of seven races sailed over the two days.

Regional regattas like NSC’s annual NOD regatta are a great reminder that the spirit of camaraderie from our sailing community across the region is alive and well - with much thanks to the volunteer team at NSC.
