2025-07 - Will Keilty 2025 Optimist World Championship
Will Keilty from Kingston, ON, placed 23rd overall out of 281 sailors at the 2025 Optimist World Championship, held June 26-July 5 at Portorož, SVN. This is the best Canadian performance in 43 years, Morten Fogh having placed 20th in 1982. In 2023, Sterling Ott finished 55th.
Through the nine races held throughout the competition, Will Keilty also recorded three top 10s, including winning the ninth and final race of the gold fleet. This is the first time ever a Canadian sailor has won a Gold Fleet race at the Optimist World Championship.
