KYC runs successful youth sail training event for 420s

 

On Thursday July 31st, thirty two 420s from 7 different clubs came together to race in a “training event” hosted by KYC.  Jeff Boyd led a crew of volunteers, including Andrew JW, Jamie Mathers, Susan MacDougall and Erika Vines to produce 6 quality races in an “easterly ish” breeze.  Each race was a double windward leeward with wind ranging from 5-14 knots.   This event was welcomed by sailors and coaches alike as it served as a nice warm up for what to expect at the 420 Youth Nationals, hosted by CORK from August 2-5.

 

After racing, more than two dozen sailors, coaches and parents enjoyed a meal, followed by smores (with marshmallows roasted at our very own fire pit) at KYC.  It was a great way to spend a summer evening in Kingston. Thanks go to the entire KYC staff for all their help to get boats, equipment and the fire pit organized!
