![]()
The 505 North American Championships were held at KYC August 21 to 24 with 35 teams competing. Teams came from across the United States and Canada and included World, North American, US East Coast, US Pacific Coast Championship winners — and sailors who had won worlds in other classes like I-14, Yngling and Australian 18-footers.
KYC competitors were
- father/daughter team Jeff and Danielle Boyd,
- Ali Meller and Devlin Lovshin
- Perryn Bennet and Adam Gesing
The Boyds, who finished in 12th place, were the top local team. Danielle was recognized as top woman crew. Ali and Devlin came in 16th. The top three teams were all from California. The regatta was won by Howard Hamlin and Jeff Nelson; 2nd place was Mike Martin and Adam Lowry; 3rd was Mike Holt (who coached the 505 training camp at KYC) and Carl Smit.
Everyone enjoyed the four days of great sailing and all that KYC had to offer. A huge thanks to all the KYC volunteers, and to Bill Visser, the RC chair.
