SHARK GOLDEN HORSESHOE REGATTA

Royal Hamilton Yacht Club was host to the 4th Shark Counter Regatta of this season.  Jonathan Livingston Seagull (JLS) along with Matt Fair, Jasmine Perera and Peter Van Rossem made the trip on Friday last week.

Racing started sharp at 1100 and winds were steady blowing from the east at approx. 8 to 10 knots.   It used to be that everyone sailed to the coal pile for pressure or a shift  but we didn't see any coal piles this year.  Lots of steam and smoke so something was happening at the plant.  The first two races were quick at just over 35 to 40 mins from start to finish.  Three more races were sailed and took close to 1 hour from start to finish.  JLS had a fantastic day of sailing and won every race of the day.

Sunday wind was non existent for a planned 1000 start so RC AP ed on shore.   At 1000 am, the Race Officer dropped the AP and racing was to start at 1100.  Only three races could be sailed for a total of 8.   Wind was again from the east but lighter than the previous day's racing.   JLS again showed their dominance and won the three races on Sunday as well.

Congrats to Matt, Jasmine and Peter for winning their third Shark regatta of the season.
