| July 3: Amherst Island Concert

Join us on Sunday July 3rd, for a sail to Amherst Island, and the first concert of the Waterside Summer Concert Series at St Paul's church, at 3:15. This timing is also perfect for those who come by car on the 2.30 ferry!

St. Paul's is the beautiful limestone church just south of Stella. The Bel Canto Wind Quintet is featured: flute, bassoon, oboe, French horn and clarinet. The members of the Quintet are all Principal Players in their own orchestras.

Tickets are $35, and afterwards we will have a potluck supper at the Village dock. Bring anything, it's a real potluck. In case of rain we will eat at the Back Kitchen. There will be enough time for those in cars to catch the 8 or 9 o'clock ferry back, and others will just tuck in for the night on their boats. This is an outing for all KYC members and friends, not just the cruising fleet!

Call Marion Westenberg, 613-548-4293, or email at for tickets. My deadline is Monday 26 June; after that call Waterside at 613-384-2153.

| August 19 - 21: 2016 Jazz Cruise Weekend

This year’s “cruise or drive” tour to Picton for the Jazz Festival features a Saturday night show at the Regent Theatre with wide audience appeal. This has been a popular cruisers event for the last 8 years and once again KYC members have “first call” on a block of excellent seats for the August 20th show featuring Canadian vocalist Jackie Richardson with pianist Joe Sealy. There’s lots to do in the Picton area – so it’s not just about the jazz. We will hold our traditional BYO dinner on Saturday night above Books & Company and Miss Lily’s Café. Our Regent Theatre tickets are $40 each and the pre-show dinner is expected to be about $30 all in! (more on the dinner later). You are welcome to participate in one or both events. If you need overnight accommodation, check the Picton Harbour Inn – and be close by to join the cruisers for happy hour!

Jazz concert tickets for August 20th can be reserved right now at $40 each, by contacting the office at KYC John Kitney will be arranging dockage for those that are interested, along with the dinner arrangements on Saturday night. We are also looking into a special Friday night option with a Festival Players dinner-theatre production at Rosehall Run winery for “A Splinter in the Heart” (light dinner, show ticket and return taxi transport to Picton Harbour, all-in for $60 each). For show information visit Phone (613-548-3052) or email to secure your Jazz tickets on a “first-to-call” basis and please copy (cc) your message to for contact about other weekend events. | Beer of the Week

Mackinnon Crosscut
Which is a rendition of a traditional Canadian ale, darker and more complex than commercial lagers, but still quite palatable for easy drinking. Designed for Canadian drinkers!

| Wine of the Month

This month we decided to shake things up a bit!
We are offering a Rose Wine for your summer buds enjoyment!
This Rose is Made in Rhone France By Caves Des Papes! It is a very summery rosé, with fresh cherries and raspberries on the nose and refreshing herbal touches of licorice, sage and lavender on the palate. Full-bodied with good acidity and an herbal finish. Great with anything off our BBQ!! It is made from a blend of Grenache, Syrah and Cinsault. It comes from some of the best vineyards of the appelation, in the south east of the mont ventoux mountains.

| RC Solings Canadian Championship

Paul Switzer successfully defended his title this past weekend as Canadian Champion of the RC Solings in Lunenburg N.S.
