Come and make Kingston Yacht Club your cottage in the city! Whether you have your own boat, or not, you’ll find friends and fun here - any time of the year. Our membership is a mix of new sailors, experienced racers, long distance cruisers, young families, single individuals and empty nesters. The Club is full of people from all walks of life who enjoy boating, enjoy being on and near the water, and who love having a ‘cottage in the city’.
Amenities
On the Water
- Great swimming off the T-dock
- Paddle boards and kayaks available to explore Kingston’s waterfront
- Keelboat racing program for weeknight club races, weekend long-distance races, and regattas. A crew bank connects sailors and skippers.
- Our cruising fleet organizes short and long cruising adventures around the Thousand Islands, Lake Ontario or down the St Lawrence River
- Get away from it all, by boat or by car, at Jemmett’s Landing - the Club’s waterfront property on the east end of Wolfe Island
- Radio-controlled sailboat enthusiasts race weekly
- Adult sailing lessons offered in keelboats
- Active Women-In-Wind program, for women who want to continue to improve their keelboat and dinghy sailing skills, learn new nautical techniques, swap sailing stories, and just have fun with a group of like-minded individuals
- Community Club program: a KYC-owned fleet of keelboats available to qualified members

- Convenient KYC account (chit settled monthly) is used for all fees incurred at KYC including membership fees, mooring fees, food & beverage service purchases, etc.

Kingston Yacht Club offers several membership categories, depending on your needs or level of involvement in club activities and amenities.
Full Membership
Full members enjoy all of the amenities of the club and have voting rights. Full membership is required for a wet mooring at KYC or to participate in the Community Club program.
Family - The Family Full membership category is for two cohabitating people (Member and Nominee) and all named dependents (children under 18 or dependent adult), who may or may not be cohabitating with the Member and Nominee. The Member and Nominee are each granted a vote.
Single - The Single Full membership category is for one person and all named dependents (children under 18 or dependent adult), who may or may not be cohabitating with the Member. The Member is granted a vote.
Associate Memberships
Associate members may participate in racing, cruising and social activities, and have use of one dry mooring slip for the respective mooring fees. However, only Full members and their nominees have voting rights. Associate members can add on access to KYC’s Wolfe Island property, Jemmett’s Landing.
Family - The Family Associate membership category is for two cohabitating people (Member and Nominee) and all named dependents (children under 18 or dependent adult), who may or may not be cohabitating with the Member and Nominee.
Single - The Single Associate membership category is for one person and all named dependents (children under 18 or dependent adult), who may or may not be cohabitating with the Member.
Non-Resident Membership
A non-resident member enjoys the same rights and privileges as a Single Associate member. Non-Resident Membership is available to someone who resides more than 80 kilometres from KYC, does not moor or otherwise maintain a boat within 80 kilometres of KYC, other than in winter storage, and makes infrequent use of the Club’s facilities. Students attending educational institutions in and around Kingston are not eligible to be Non-Resident Members.
Junior Membership
A Junior Member enjoys the same rights and privileges as a Single Associate Member. Junior Membership is available to someone who is between the ages of 12 and 18 years old as of March 1 of the current membership year.
Temporary Membership
This category is available on a monthly basis to persons whose residency in Kingston is short term. Temporary members enjoy the same rights and privileges as Single Associate Members.

Please note there are no discounts for Junior, Temporary, and Corporate Memberships. For Family memberships, if the Member and Nominee are not the same age, the older age bracket is used to calculate the discount. For example, if a Member is 24 and the Nominee is 27, the 25% discount will apply. |
