| Haulout

The proposed winter storage plan with the order for masts and boats are below.

Weather looks OK for Saturday,. not so good for Sunday, as it is forecast to be breezy. Brian, the crane operator will make the call on Sunday.

Saturday, we will need volunteers throughout the day. Brian is bringing his big crane and we are going to do the following:

  • masts down (the full volunteer corps)
  • T dock out (a half dozen volunteers)
  • adjust a half dozen mooring balls (a half dozen volunteers- Brad will explain….)

Lifting the t-dock a day early and having the crane in place Sunday morning means that WE WILL START LIFTING BOATS at 0800 (weather permitting)

Dont forget that breakfast is served 0800 Saturday and 0700 Sunday, volunteers eat free.

I would also like to acknowledge the cradle crew, who this Wednesday morning endured a cold driving rain, and unloaded your cradles.

They are: Brad Strawbridge, Andrew Kelm, Rob Colwell, Mike Charrette, Peter Cohrs, Ross Cameron, Darwin Muir, and Jim Beatson. Jim was supposed to retire-in-full, but the gravitational pull of unloading cradles and getting wet and cold at the same time proved too much to resist! Thanks again to the usual gang who do it year-in and year-out!

QST Powerwash

Queen's Sailing Team will be around on Haulout weekend to power wash your boats! They are accepting donations (Suggested donation is $1 per foot) in exchange for the service.

| Break-ins

A small number of member boats were found broken into on Sunday morning. Kingston Police were on-site to investigate and gather information. As soon as KYC was able to identify the boats involved the owners were contacted and informed.

It is our hope that a suspect is identified and the missing items return to the owners. We believe this to be an isolated issue however we would like to caution members on leaving items such as valuables or alcohol onboard

If you have any questions about this matter please contact the office.

| Clubhouse UpdateFacility Improvements, Keep the Club warm!

Ladies Washroom Reno

Starting November 9th, we will be remodeling the ladies washroom. The facilities will be “out of order” for about 10 days – two weeks. We are in the process of cleaning up the Able Sail office/Washroom for member usage during this time. We appreciate your patience during this long overdue project.

Keep the Club Warm

As we move into the cooler days, we just wanted to inform the membership that we ask you not to use the doors to enter or exit in the dining room, but instead please use the front doors. We are simply trying to ensure the members who are dining are not having their dining experience interrupted by a not so nice “cool breeze.” We appreciate your cooperation with this.
