The sailing season is just around the corner!

Special announcements

| CRUISING FLEET CAPTAIN STILL NEEDED

We need 1-2 people to take the reins in this program. It would involve communicating with the cruisers about their needs, attending in a monthly Sailing Committee meeting during the off-season, and securing volunteers to organise the individual events (see last year's list in the "Sailing / Cruising" area on our web site). There is already a lot of content (event details & resources) that's been created for use in the Sailors handbook, etc. Extensive cruising experience is not required.

| COMMUNITY CLUB DINGHIES

We would like to add some dinghies (Lasers perhaps?) to our fleet for next year. The process would be similar to what we currently have for the Sharks and Jessie (i.e. with respect to booking and sailor checkout). If you have a Laser you'd like to donate (or receive a small fee for) please contact Peter French (contact coordinates are available in the "Members Area").

| RACING PLANS SURVEY

KYC's Sailing Committee recently emailed all sailboat owners a survey, inquiring about their race plans for the coming year. To date, 33 responses have been received; we are awaiting for 43 more... they are due next Monday (February 19th)

| Beer of the Week

Belgian-style Black Ale

Belgian-style black ale – 5.6% ABV

Belgian-style black ale is a showcase of roasted chocolate and black malts, to which monastery ale yeast adds a characteristically Belgian spiced finish. Hidden deep within the dragon’s lair, this ale is worth the challenge of contending against its keeper.

Belgian-style black ale pours nearly opaque black with a tan foam. The aroma offers notes of dark chocolate, espresso and a touch of cinnamon and star anise from the use of Belgian yeast. The flavour consists of dark malt, dried fruit and peppery spice. The finish is dry and imparts lingering spice.
