Cavalier Bleu
Blueberry I.P.A. – 6.0% ABV
Built on the foundation of a generously hopped I.P.A., Cavalier Bleu blends the citrusy aromas of organic New Zealand hop varieties with the fruity flavours found in American Azacca and German Mandarina Bavaria hops. Topping it off is an infusion of organic blueberry juice made from wild Québec blueberries.
Cavalier Bleu pours hazy light brown with blue/purple undertones and a white foam. The aroma offers a complex array of tropical fruit, citrus and blueberry notes. The flavour offers intense tangy blueberry. The finish is dry and tart.| Wine of the Month

Junior Sailing
| Introducing our new Sailing Manager and Head Instructor
We would like to welcome Arcchit Sehgal (2018 Sailing Manager) and Rachel Harris (JS Head Instructor) to KYC
A bit about Arcchit:
I grew up sailing on Kingston's waters with the Royal Canadian Sea Cadet program. After leaving the cadet program, I went on to coach the CANSail curriculum at different clubs across lake Ontario before becoming a keel and powerboat instructor. Last season, I was involved in developing and coaching the high performance program at National One Design Sailing Academy, laying down the foundation for the program to flourish into a premier keelboat training centre on lake Ontario.
This season, I hope to continue to develop KYC's junior club into a fun, safe, and competitive program for all levels of sailors.
"Hi there! My name is Rachel Harris, and I am thrilled to be the KYC head instructor for this coming summer! A bit about me:
I started sailing in Toronto when I was 15 years old, and I’ve been hooked ever since. I sailed and raced 420s for 4 years, then went on to coach CANSail levels 1-6 and Adult Sailing. Recently I have turned my focus to keelboat sailing, and I’ve enjoyed the challenges of both course and distance racing in Canada and the US.
I am currently at Queen’s University in my last year of Linguistics. I am also part of the Queen’s Sailing Team as the 2018-2019 keelboat captain, and vice-president of the Queen’s Film Club.
For the upcoming season, my goals are to help young sailors engage in the KYC sailing community around them, motivate coaches to challenge themselves as teachers, and students to improve their sailing skills. I am looking forward to the beginning of the sailing season, and I’m excited to meet everyone!"

Late breaking news!
Ryan and Carolyn Heath are stepping forward to assume leadership in the Cruising Fleet. Their orientation will begin very soon. Expect to hear from them in upcoming communications to the fleet. Would members of the Cruising Fleet who have helped in the past and/or can help this year's individual cruising events, please reach out to Ryan or Carolyn. I'm sure they will appreciate it.
Your KYC Sailing Committee has met a couple of times in the New Year, to work on various things for the upcoming sailing season. Some racing-related items of note:
- Thanks to all who responded to the racing plans survey! The results of the recent racing plans survey were reviewed; some acquired insights will be useful for future event planning purpose.
- A decision has been made to split PHRF fleets into 2 equal sized fleets instead of the current approach (i.e. owner has discretion in choosing PHRF 1 or PHRF 2 fleet to participate in). It is expected this will result in 2 approximately 8-9 boat fleets instead of the 13 and 3 boat fleets we've had in recent years. This might not seem desirable for some racers, at first impression. However, it is felt that overall it will provide (a) better & more interesting racing and (b) improved race management (e.g. length of courses). The new approach will be tried as a 1 year trial and re-evaluated at the end of the 2018 season.
- A decision has been made to not to combine PHRF 1 and PHRF 2 fleets into a single combined PHRF fleet.
- There will be some changes in time limits for evening races.
- Michael Nicoll-Griffith will be offering a post racing arbitration service most evenings.
More details on all of the above will be presented at the Spring Sailors Evening on Wed April 11 @ 7-9 pm. We plan to have the online version of the Sailors Handbook available by March 31.
PHRF handicaps for 2018 are expected soon. We will again be using a few local modifications to the PHRF-LO provided handicaps.
