| Beer of the Week

Three Knocks

Sticke Alt: German-Style Altbier 7% ABV

Sticke Alt is a special, rare version of a German-style altbier; bigger and bolder than usual. Three Knocks features a decidedly robust but balanced blend of clean, crisp and bready malts, with an assertive hop backbone. Oaky undertones are courtesy of the oakwood aging.

History & Style
Seasonally or sometimes just once a year, altbier breweries in Dusseldorf will covertly brew special, stronger batches of their alt, and share them with family, friends and regular patrons. Beau’s toasts this historical tradition with Three Knocks, a stronger, bolder and oak-aged version of our award-winning altbier recipe.

Tasting Notes
Three Knocks pours brilliant mahogany with a dense ecru foam. The aroma offers deep grainy malt notes complemented by a touch of herbal hops. The flavour notes feature deep chewy malt and intense but balanced hop bitterness. The long finish offers resonances of crisp malts and spicy hops with a touch of woody tannin.

| Sailing

We had an interesting & informative Sailors Meeting last Wednesday. There were 40+ attendees and the evening included:
* updates on the Sailing portfolio's programs,
* explanation of changes to the Handbook and our Sailing Instructions for racing,
* a protest "play" involving "actors" who simulated a protest hearing (with explanations about correct process & procedures),
* details on the new post-race arbitration service (an alternative to Protest Hearings for some types of incidents) and how arbitration works. The goals were to educate, make the process less intimidating and increase compliance our Racing Rules.
* updates on regattas being hosted at KYC for 2018 and 2019
* a Dragon Force 65 radio controlled boat on display for those who were interested.
Printed 2018 Handbook booklets were distributed and early Race Committee duty slots assigned. The online Race Committee Duty schedule has been updated with the bookings and is available on our website at "Sailing > Keelboat Racing > Sailing Calendar"

Thanks to Ross Cameron, Chris Currie, Peter French, Steve Harrison, Tim Irwin, Paul Switzer, John Vines, Chris Walmsley, Robert Weguelin and Mary Wilson for their contributions to the materials presented and/or the presentations, as well as those who attended. Please spread the word to others about what you heard/learned. Thanks to Greg and the staff for accommodating us, along with 2 other events on the same evening. The presentation slides will be available soon on our website "Sailing" page as a PDF download.
