Covid Update - Sip Safely
Just a reminder that if you are dining outdoors at KYC, please keep everyone safe by staying in your seats if you are eating and drinking - no wandering around with your drink. If you are indoors for any reason, you must wear a face covering (mandatory). If you are actively eating or drinking indoors, you may remove your face covering.
If you are just meeting with someone indoors for longer than 15 minutes, or working on your own laptop, and casually and slowly enjoying coffee or sipping one of Brandon's amazing summer creations, please keep your masks on in between sips.
And lastly, this has been a very tough process for servers in the Canadian food and beverage industry. Please be patient and kind with our team. They are exhausted and only want to keep all members and themselves safe and sailing.
Summer Concert Series - Irwin
With four straight sellouts, the KYC summer music series has been a huge success! For the last Wednesday night of our singer-songwriter series, we welcome to our dockside stage, Irwin. Well known to the KTown coffeehouse circuit, Irwin brings a playlist of 60s and 70s folk and more folk - Simon, Cockburn, Prine, Stevens, Cohen, Marley and even some Rogers! Please call the bar to make a reservation for the 5:30 start or catch the second set over a late night drink under the patio lights!
Name That...
With a dream team in the kitchen accompanied by our incredible frontline service and a delicious new Fall menu, it has been suggested that perhaps this spectacular location could have its own name. So a contest has been launched for all members to help us come up with a name for the best dockside bar and restaurant in Kingston. Over the next week, please add your suggestion to the facebook posting or email your suggestion. Staff will shortlist the selections and we will put it to a vote! The winner will receive ribbon cutting honours and something very special from our F&B team!
KYC Learn to Sail Season End
Led by our very own world champion and Program Manager/Head Instructor Rachel Harris, another season of JS summer camp and KYC Race Team training has come to an end. Thank you Daniel, Emma, Naomi, Ben, Arheh, Mitzi, Aidan, Sailing Manager Jake and Bosun Ben for your leadership and for pulling together a last minute spectacular sailing program - in a year when we doubted that anyone would even get on the water. You have brought so much joy to young new sailors and pride to our KYC community for keeping everyone safe. See you next Spring!

| Beer of the Week
Daft Breweries: Velvet Thunder
4.8% ABV
Velvet Thunder is made with a grain bill of 2-row and wheat malt and brewed with Florida oranges, black tea, bourbon barrel oak. This brew is mildly soured, which adds more depth to the refreshing citrus notes. The finished beer has a deep copper colour and is bursting with the refreshing aroma of oranges.
The flavour is refreshing and citrusy initially, but evolves into complex and delicate black tea and bourbon barrel oak flavours. The body is light and effervescent with subtle tannins in the background from the tea and oak. Overall this beer is an easy drinking summer sipper with a complexity that makes it more interesting than your typical sour beer. Velvet Thunder has a creamy and long lasting head, which is one of the most technically challenging aspects of this beer because sour beer doesn’t typically have good head retention.
| KYC welcomes the Canadian Foiling Centre(CFC)
http://www.canadianfoilingcentre.ca Put foiling on your ‘Bucket List’! A recent initiative to promote this newest sailing tech has started. CFC is operating out of KYC and has taken possession of it’s first foiling boat. The F101, which you may have seen on the pier or out flying in the harbour, was chosen as the training boat for CFC because of its safety(designed to prevent capsizing), it’s ability to begin foiling in only 6-8knots of breeze, and speeds of 20+knots. This startup year has been affected by the pandemic but gives KYC members an opportunity to have a go at foiling as CFC is not offering public lessons until next year. The cost for KYC members is $150 for two people for two hours and a percentage will go back to KYC. If you want to Try- to-Fly, please contact instructor@canadianfoilingcentre.ca
