Thanks to the Launch, Masting and Cradle Loading Volunteers.
The self lubricating machine rolls again. Once again Members, your volunteers have ably risen to the routine challenges of launching your fleet. Thanks to your nimble crew of slingers, hookers, liners and wheelbarrow-ers…. Rick Sellens, Mike Charrette, Jim Beatson, Ross Cameron, Phil Hart, Rob Colwell, Ralph Shaw, Chris Phippen, Chris Walmsley, Steve Wight, Bob Story, Lou Franchi, Don Currie, Peter Kraszewski, our able signalsman Harrison Cohrs, and our essential timer, Mary Westerland. It all came off without a hitch, and I encourage all members to personally extend a thank you to all the volunteers. I know they’d appreciate it.
Thanks also to the masting volunteers; again, another exercise that went without a hitch. (rolling hitches excepted) Special thanks extended to Ross Cameron and Chris Phippen who toughed it out to the hot, bug infested end.
I will be considering some slight retooling of not only the volunteer faction of our spring and fall rituals, but also guidelines to members in respect of launching and masting safety and preparedness.
As you read this, we have likely just loaded a whole bunch of cradles as well. This operation in controlled precariousness is ably carried out by the following....and thanks in advance to Jim Beatson, Rob Colwell, Ross Cameron, Lou Franchi, Steve Wight, Michael Charette Ron Hodges and Rob Story. (I hope I've not forgotten anyone!)
We had a safe and successful run again last weekend, and I heartily thank those always returning fellows (and Lady) who selflessly contribute.
