KYC Athletes in Florida
As one calendar year comes to a close our National Team sailors are training for the next World Cup event in Miami in January.
Robert Davis sailed the South Florida District Championships last weekend winning 6 of 9 races to take the title and gain point towards a strong second place ranking in the North American Laser Grand Prix series.
Danielle Boyd is competing in the newest Olympic Class the 49’er FX woman’s skiff. Dani and her helm Erin Rafuse are also in Florida taking part in a training camp with their US counterparts.
Wind Athletes Canada has now made it possible to donate to these programs and get a tax receipt for all donations. Wind Athletes has also made sure that all funds are directed to the athletes with no administration fees.
For more information on these sailors or how to donate….please check out their team websites and Wind Athletes Canada.

Attention: PHRF Certificate Holders (Offshore Racers)
Effective 2014, if you currently have a “grandfathered” spinnaker, that rating adjustment will disappear, and PHRF-LO may further adjust your PHRF certificate based on the size of your spinnaker. Therefore, all PHRF certificate holders must have their largest spinnaker measured in order to receive a valid 2014 PHRF certificate. We will measure Maximum Luff and Maximum Girth for both Symmetrical and Asymmetrical Spinnakers. To facilitate this effort we have scheduled a “HUG YOUR SPINNAKER” TGIF for January 10, 2014. Please mark the date and bring your largest spinnaker to the Partridge Room at KYC on Friday January 10th between 1730 and 1900. KYC PHRF Handicapper alumni will be on hand to help the Skipper (Skipper representative) take the key measurements and record the data. Remember, it is the Skipper’s responsibility to ensure accurate data is reported to PHRF-LO.
Please contact Rob Colwell (KYC PHRF-LO Handicapper) to book your time, or just show up. A 2nd measurement opportunity will be scheduled in early April, if January 10th is inconvenient.
Please refer to the PHRF-LO web-site for more information: http://www.phrf-lo.org/
