KYC Starts between the Yardarm and Mark V:  Be Safe! (April 15, 2026)

Sometimes KYC weekend races will start between the Yardarm and mark "V".  The break wall provides for a very daunting obstruction that everyone will want to stay well clear of.  Normally Rules 18, 19 & 20 don't apply at starting marks, but this is a situation where some of them DO apply because the yardarm/break wall end of the line is a continuing obstruction.  This article discusses how the rules change from a normal start.  These differences are important for all boats at a start like this, so it's important to know what to do.
